DIGITAL PRODUCTS

Is this a physical product?

No. All Cardboard Lab Studio products are digital pattern files. No physical item will be shipped.

You will need to download, print, cut, and assemble the pattern using your own cardboard and tools.

What files will I receive?

The included files vary by product, but generally include a printable PDF pattern and a numbered and lettered assembly guide. A video tutorial is included when one is available.

Always check the individual product page to see exactly what is included.

Are A4 and US Letter sizes both included?

Not every pattern includes both paper sizes. Available formats are listed on each product page, so please check before purchasing.

How do I download my files after purchasing?

Your Account → Purchases and Reviews → Download Files

You can also use the download link in Etsy’s purchase email.

Why can’t I download the file from the Etsy app?

Etsy digital files normally cannot be downloaded through the Etsy mobile app. Open Etsy in a web browser on your phone or computer, sign in, and visit Purchases and Reviews.

What should I do if I cannot find or open my files?

Make sure the download is complete and that your device has a PDF reader or ZIP extraction application.

If the problem continues, contact us by email. Include the product name and your Etsy order information so we can help more quickly.

PRINTING & MATERIALS

What printer settings should I use?

For helmets, choose 80%, 90%, or 100% based on head circumference and print all pages of one helmet at the same scale. Print other patterns at Actual Size (100%) unless stated otherwise. Turn off Fit to Page, Shrink, and automatic resizing, which can change the selected scale.

What kind of cardboard should I use?

We recommend clean, flat cardboard approximately 1.5 mm thick. Keep the material thickness consistent so the numbered pieces fit together correctly.

What tools will I need?
  • Printer and suitable paper
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Scissors or a craft knife
  • Cutting mat and ruler
  • Glue or tape
  • Pen or marker

Children must be supervised by an adult when using scissors, craft knives, or other sharp tools.

BUILDING PROJECTS

Which helmet size should I choose?

Measure head circumference, then choose a print scale: 100% for 21–23 inches, 90% for 20–21 inches, or 80% for 19–20 inches. These are approximate fit guides; check the individual pattern before assembling. Print every page at the same selected scale.

Are the patterns suitable for beginners?

Yes. Numbered and lettered connection points help identify which pieces belong together. Difficulty varies by product, so check the assembly difficulty shown on the product page before purchasing.

How is assembly difficulty determined?

Difficulty describes pattern complexity rather than estimated building time. It considers the number of parts, connections, labels, assembly sequence, and small or detailed pieces.

Does every product include a video tutorial?

Not yet. Some products already include a complete YouTube tutorial, while others currently include the printable pattern and assembly guide. The product page shows whether a tutorial is available.

We will continue creating and adding tutorials for more products over time.

Can I get help if I have difficulty assembling a project?

Yes. Contact us by email. Include the product name and, if possible, a photo of the step or part causing difficulty.
